UPCOMING EVENT - ANNUAL FALL SALE, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2016   10 a.m.  -  4 p.m.  KITCHENER CONCORDIA CLUB, WEINSTUBE

So, here we are on the brink of oktoberfest, 2016 (already!) and we're busy, busy, busy here at "Tracht Central"!  Our new stock has starting arriving more regularly now - with those big boxes landing on our porch almost daily. We've already had a number of customers come by to purchase outfits to take with them to Munich oktoberfest, and it's always fun for us to see their excitement and newfound enthusiasm for all things Bavarian.

We're very happy to add Marjo Leder & Tracht to our growing list of suppliers.  They are a wonderful family-owned company located in the picturesque town of Obernzell, on the banks of the Danube River.  We were so impressed by their products... as well as their warmth and friendliness when we stopped by their booth at the trade show, and again when we visited their...

Our time in Germany and Austria flew by in a whirlwind of activity.   The weather was nothing short of spectacular...which gave us lots of energy!  After a very (very!) cold and snowy Canadian winter, it was a treat to take our morning coffee on the sunny balcony of our holiday apartment, and eat lunch at an outdoor cafe in one of the nearby towns.

We began our trip in the usual way, with a visit to Hammerschmid trachten in Marquartstein, to choose from their overstock children's dirndls, (great savings!).   We  lucked-out and were also able to pick up some lovely ladies' dirndl blouses, linen jackets, and mieders...all at great prices. I do love a bargain - and best of all I love being able to pass our savings on to you!

A couple of days later we were in Salzburg at The Tracht & Country trade show, which was bigger and better than ever, with lots of new exhibitors and products.  We...

In my last post I wrote about our upcoming purchasing trip to the Tracht & Country Trade Show in Salzburg.    As a follow-up (and because so many customers ask) I'm going to elaborate a little on the whole trade show experience, and give the inside scoop on how the industry works.

The sole purpose of the Tracht & Country show is to allow retailers from across Europe (and one from Canada!) to meet with various suppliers in order to view and order merchandise.  It's also a wonderful opportunity for up-and-coming designers and small to medium sized manufacturers to "network" and to have their products seen by literally hundreds of buyers from the retail sector.

Most of the fashion industry works on two production cycles or "seasons"  per year i.e.: Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter.  The specific designs, colours, and fabrics to be used in each collection are finalized by...

With Christmas and the busy holiday season behind us,  our thoughts are now turning to our upcoming trip to Salzburg.  The purpose of our trip?  Shopping!   Each year we travel to the beautiful city of Salzburg, Austria for three days of intensive shopping and schmoozing at the Tracht and Country trade show. Our objective?  To fill our store with new and exciting fashions and accessories!   You can see highlights of the August, 2013 show here:  http://trachtsalzburg.at

There are over 300 companies represented at the show, and they manufacture everything trachten and landhausmode ("casual weekend wear"); from beautiful traditional dirndls, hats, shirts and lederhosen for everyday wear (in Bavaria and Austria, anyway), to the jaw-dropping gorgeous designer dirndls favoured by jet-setter celebs, and the "who's who" of Austria and Bavaria.  Many of the most popular...
